Some times I feel like I'm going through the motions. You know the feeling. Doing things because you've done them before, because you're supposed to, because repetition creates the illusion of purpose.
I'm grateful to Toronto singer-songwriter Steve Benjamins for shaking me out of my slump. Benjamins's new single, "Purification Ritual," is something special. Learn more about its origin, and watch the music video, here.
Additional Review By Jami
I first listened to Steve Benjamins' "Purification Ritual" some time ago, and with each successive listen, I've grown fonder of the song.
Melancholy shines through as the overarching feeling, all the while, the beauty that weaves its way into each note is not lost. "Purification Ritual" is the kind of song that will hold nuanced meaning for each listener. For me, it reminds me of the time following a 10 day silent mediation retreat; a time in my life where purification was the focus. With that, many obstacles came to the fore, and as they washed over me, they passed, and in passing, purification emerged.
If you hold dear the meaning that "Purification Ritual" emanates within you, then follow on and listen to more from Steve Benjamins.
