Why do we like this?

The gloomy drums on Oakland-based group Sugar Candy Mountain's latest song are so enjoyable to listen to. The dreamy ghostly sounds that accompany them are equally good. 

"In My Own World" takes you on an eerie and melancholy space-age, hung-over dream pop trip -- the pleasantly ethereal vocals of Ash Reiter guiding you along; every now and again drifting off and re-returning.

Out of the tune comes drums, laid back and groovy bass-lines, spacey electronic guitars, and keys that paint the picture of an estranged desolate piece of tropical utopia; perhaps a once pristine holiday resort in paradise now gone to ruins -- but still with its off-beat glamour and moments of charm. Well, that is what it conjures up for me anyway...
