Sometimes collaborations don't work, but other times they're a match made in heaven. Tear Council falls under the second category.
The new brainchild of Aussie electronic artists Michael Di Francesco (Touch Sensitive) and Matt Van Schie (Van She/Du Tonc) is Tear Council, and their debut single is "Anywhere." It's their first collaboration since 2009, when they worked together on Van She's track "Journey."
The track is mellow and emotional, with a laid-back beat, a deep bass, and a wistful, breathy melody. The staccato synths play around with the bass, while percussive layers inject a full range of new tone colors throughout.
Equally slick and soothing from start to end, it's one of the strongest tracks I've heard all year.
Watch out for an accompanying video clip due out in March, as the duo prepares for their first live performance in April. "Anywhere" will be officially released on Friday February 13 through Personal Best Records.
