Do you know Terrance Martin? You should and you need to. The L.A. native grew up with Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, and a string of other black luminaries that have been lighting up the music industry on the back-end for years but as of late have been finally stepping into the forefront.
Name the West Coast OG and Martin and his saxophone have probably played with them, recorded a session for them, or done some production. He's prepping an album, the luxuriously titled Velvet Portraits, and to tease us a bit he's released a treat for us.
He was a seminal part of Kendrick Lamar's groundbreaking LP this year, that's probably why he has access to the session files of "Alright" to give the a soulful, jazz-injected re-visioning you're enjoying today.
