Why do we like this?

I'm so pleased to introduce you to London five-piece The Mispers, and their new single "Shoulder." For a band that has only been around for 18 months, their sound is solid, defined, and incredibly impressive.

The track opens with lovely folky guitars, but it swiftly become a lot heavier than that. I fell in love with this track the moment the vocals kicked in. I have a feeling that vocalist Jack Scott's voice may be a 'love it or hate it' kind of thing -- his helium-high lilt may not be for everyone, but I am definitely on the 'love it' side of things.

As the track begins to build, the intensity grows. Driving drums and a heaving rhythm combine so well with wailing electric guitars and the vocal melody, creating an emotionally charged soundscape that's catchy, riveting, and utterly captivating.

The Mispers will be playing three gigs in London next month. They're currently working on their debut album, to be released in 2015.
