With all the attention Australia's electronic scene is receiving at the moment, there's also been so much incredible rock music coming out! There's been a bumper crop of standout releases this year, and you can go ahead and add this one to the list.
The track I'm talking about is the debut release from a Melbourne-based artist who operates under the name The Outdoor Type. "Are You Happy" is a full-blooded pop-rock gem, stocked full of hazy guitar riffs and stirring harmonica solos. There's something incredibly touching about his vocals, both the lyrics and the tone itself -- it'll get stuck between your ears pretty quickly! If you talk about bands like the War on Drugs as Americana, the Outdoor Type is the epitome of Australiana.
This is one of those tracks that I enjoy more with each listen. With an EP on the way, there looks to be plenty more to fall in love with from this fresh new act.
