Why do we like this?

Oakland-based band Trails and Ways released a full-length album, Pathology, at the beginning of June. Today I'm excited to premiere remix of their original single "Downright" by Falcon Punch, a talented producer out of Denver.

Moving the bubble gum, indie pop track into a dancier realm, Falcon Punch artfully crafts a smooth, melodic arc lasting over five minutes. There are subtly frenetic elements in the background, giving meat to the overall melody. The original is still recognizable; Falcon Punch leaves the vocals mostly in tact, focusing on elongating the beat and underlying instruments with his own flourishes to bring this track to the chilled electronic, slightly disco-y side of life.
