Vic Mensa has been on somewhat of a lyrical tear this year. After his long awaited debut record never materialized, the Chicago native dropped a number of politically and socially relevant singles before releasing the seven track EP There's A lot Going On.
The release was heavily influenced by the treatment of black Americans, with songs referencing a number of police shootings along with the Flint Michigan water crisis.
This finds Mensa once again discussing gang violence and police brutality along with groupies and survivors guilt on "Heathens Freestyle." Sampling the beat from 21 Pilots "Heathens," this is another fierce rap form Mensa that once again displays his lyrical prowess.
