The Remix Artist Collective (RAC) have created some of our favorite remixes to date. We've got a bevy of them on the site, featuring artists such as The Temper Trap, The Shins and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Excitingly, they're coming out with a 9-track Volume 2 on March 4th, 2011, and have asked us to premier their mix of Washed Out's "New Theory."
The original song was featured on Washed Out's debut EP Life of Leisure, which released back in 2009. The atmosphere of that track easily fit the chillwave genre categorization, which RAC's mix maintains perfectly. What they bring to the table on top of that, however, is a certain lightness in sound, embodied in large part by playful synth work.
