Sounding like classic electronica from the likes of Madeon or Porter Robinson, WRLD and smle's collab "Stranded" is exceptional.
It's been a hot minute since someone made something that sounded straight from the blogosphere circa 2011. Swapping out basic ass future bass for the arcade-y, synth heavy sounds that predates the current pop cycle, WRLD and smle's "Stranded" feels like the electronic wave we need, but don't deserve. Elevating, literally, the genre to something a little more senpai-lite, the producers' shifting soundscape has the inner workings of a beast both as a banger and as a remixable piece of art.
It's happy. It's charming. But above all else, it's just refreshing to hear someone make electronic music fun again.
