Yellow Ostrich has big plans for 2012. What started out as the solo project of singer-guitarist Alex Schaaf has blossomed into a three-piece outfit that is headlining a cross-country tour to coincide with the release of a new album, Strange Land, out March 6 on Seattle's Barsuk records.
"Marathon Runner" is supercharged pop running on pure indie rock fuel. There's overdriven guitar, solid bass and drums, thoughtful lyrics. Yellow Ostrich has a solid track on its hands here. Here's hoping Strange Land has more of this in store.
