Why do we like this?

Zara McFarlane already garnered rave reviews on her debut album, 2011's Until Tomorrow, and her recently released follow-up wants to up the ante.

"Police & Thieves" is a brilliantly sublime cut off her sophomore album, If You Knew Her. She fuses jazz musicality with a searing political commentary that zaps the sensationalism out of the issue and lifts up the humanity in it. The black British singer has a powerfully delicate voice and she's mastered how to use it.

For your late night drives, Sunday dinners, or just miscellaneous unwinding, Zara McFarlane's music makes 'adult contemporary' sound like a beautiful thing.
