What's so good?
By Jason Grishkoff | Aug 13, 2013

I have a tendency to skip through the majority of submissions that land in my inbox, but somehow Malaysian duo +2dB caught me off guard. Maybe it's because their email didn't mention that what it held inside was a cover of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky"? Because if they had, I'd probably have just rolled my eyes and moved on.

Something pulled me in, and boy was I lucky it did! +2dB's two-for-one cover of "Get Lucky / Doin' It Right" is a refreshingly dark and original rendition. Based out of Kuala Lumpur, members Jeannie and Jo Ann utilize heavy synth work and smooth vocals to craft a sound not unlike Purity Ring, Grimes or even The xx.
