Foster the People

Pumped Up Kicks

Sounds like: Two Door Cinema Club, Capital Cities, The Kooks
If you're wondering how to get booked for Coachella with only 12-minutes of recorded music to your name, you might want to take a look at Foster the People. The brainchild of L.A.-based Mark Foster, the band has released only three songs to-date, two of which are featured in Today's Song of the Day.The first is "Pumped Up Kicks," which not only instantly catches the attention of listeners, but appears to also have a knack for gaining the attention of corporations. While I haven't seen the commercials myself, rumor has it that the song is now a flagship of Converse's campaigning. That's hardly surprising, considering the slick surf-rock guitar and all the clapping going on in this song. The second track "Helena Beat" has had just as much success, capturing the hearts/ears of mash-up and remix artists alike. The results include a track featuring Wiz Khalifa's smooth rappin'.Want to hear the third track? Visit the band's site here.
