What's so good? By Justin Lam | Feb 06, 2013 | Total plays: 7,851
A weird quirk of mine is looking at a single's artwork to determine whether or not I will like a song or not. Not that I do this all time (Phoenix could have a picture of a pile of rubbish on their album cover for all I care), but generally it's been quite a good indication of the type of song I'll be listening to.
Well, when I saw the cover of L.A. duo Glow Marrow's EP Braver Days, I'll be honest with you, it was a little bit off putting. A picture of a deteriorating rabbit is not the most appealing image, so I skipped the song, thinking it wouldn't be within my taste. A couple of months later, I found myself streaming this song "Bear Creek" on a playlist from Earmilk -- now, it's important to remember that they don't show any artwork with the song.
I absolutely fell in love with the song. It was so uplifting, inspiring and full of passion. I did some research, and to my surprise, I found the artwork that was burnt in my brain. Funny, I couldn't picture them together. Perhaps I was just a tad naive on this occasion, but I'm oh-so-glad that I received a second opportunity to hear this indie pop gem.
