What's so good?

First a Rihanna refix, now a Kate Bush cover? Blackbird Blackbird's just playing games with my musical heart.

My god. I don't know where to begin. Two of my favorite things smashed together! "Running Up That Hill" and chillwave. Let's just stick with his SoundCloud tag as a suitable description for this tremendous track: future pop.

Blackbird Blackbird is San Francisco-based wünderkind Mikey Marama. We obviously have the best artists here in the Bay area - Mikey's known for his self-described "dreamy folktronica" that draws from contemporaries like Washed Out and Mount Kimbie. This song is flat-out hypnotic, really squeezing dry the old Bush song by just teasing out one lyric then splicing it against lively blips and beeps. The cover surges and retreats with a liveliness you should expect of electronic pop, but still retains Kate's original, full-bodied, echoing-off-the-walls dramatic sound. A great little number to dance to.

I'm floored. Nice work Mikey. Looking forward to your next track transformation.
