I’ve always enjoyed bands like Minus The Bear for the intricacy of their instrumentation. And if you’re like me, I’m pretty confident that you’re going to like KIVEN’s new song “Hope & Smoke” a whole lot.
Hailing from the smog-swept city of Los Angeles, Kiven are gearing up to release their third EP, 1840 later this month. “Hope & Smoke” is the first single off the EP, an upbeat and emotive opener filled with slick guitar licks, tight rhythm and perfect harmonization.
The other two tracks (“The Blur” and “Forward”) are re-written versions of prior releases, and smoothly fill out the twists and turns setup by “Hope & Smoke” as if they were composed with that intent.
Definitely a band worth keeping your ears out for.
