Today, we've got a sneak peek of the first single "Austere Coincidences," off the much-anticipated album Stereo Typing by Berlin-based My Dry Wet Mess (aka Giovanni Civitenga).
According to RA, "the title comes from Civitenga's idea to compose the record like a story." That means that although "Austere Coincidences" is an introduction, it travels quite far by itself.
The glitch aesthetic is layered with angelic melodies and spacey synth, which all moves into new territory via percussion kicks. I find myself quickly carried to a land both exciting and frightening in its unfamiliarity (my heart is beating irregularly?!).
Despite an inability to process the track's entire culture upon first, second or sixth listen, an intriguing comfort remains long after the journey's over.
Stereo Typing will make its worldwide debut on Nov. 13th via LA's Brainfeeder .
