Shufflers, meet Mykel. He’s a singer, songwriter, and producer that hails from Dublin, Ireland. Turns out that Mykel didn’t start experimenting with music until he was 29, and even though he produces a smooth blend of pop and electronica, he’s heavily influenced by “underground hip hop, 50s big band, soul singers and classical music.”
“Sweet Valentine” reminds me a bit of the R&B-influenced tracks that artists like Stephen A. Clark have been putting out. It’s about love, lust, and getting down to business — on and off the dance floor. Also, is anyone else impressed that Mykel is the man on the mic and behind the boards?
Mykel has been working on a five track EP that he plans to release later this year. In the meantime, fans of “Sweet Valentine” can look for the single to be released in February via Ntrang Music.
