Little Red were a really successful Australian band, so it was a bit of a shock when they suddenly split earlier this year. While other members have gone on to other projects, Dominic Byrne have Adrian Beltrame have teamed with members Eagle and the Worm and Ground Components to form New Gods. The five-piece have hit the ground running, and have been busy writing and recording material for the release of their EP (due out on November).
New Gods’ debut single “On Your Side” has just been released, and it’s a change-up from the cheerful indie pop Little Red put out. Building steadily, the pace and power of the track expands and climaxes brilliantly with vast guitar riffs and bristling percussion. You can notice a number of different inspirations to this music, but they mesh well.
“On Your Side” is a great introduction to this new venture, which will be busy supporting The Rubens on their mammoth National Tour throughout September and October.
