Ohmega Watts

Stay Tuned (Ft. Sojourn)

Sounds like: Jurassic 5, Rakim, Blue Scholars, Aceyalone
One guy we gotta make sure to check out before departing the beautiful Pac Northwest is the uber talented Ohmega watts. He's a bit of a tornado in terms of his origins: his parents were Jamaican and he was born and raised in Brooklyn and Queens. He then spent some time in Florida before settling down in Seattle. His diverse history appears to have had a positive impact on his vision towards hip hop: philosophic, spiritual, relaxed, and well versed.Ohmega Watts also produces all his own shit and recruits all sorts of incredibly talented folks to come through and drop rhymes, ranging from the likes of Tiffany Simpson and Soujourn. The instrumentals give you a bit of a Thievery Corporationesque feel. There's certainly a nice focus on jazzy influenced free-form beats and soulful rhymes; the album is extremely eclectic. Tons of changes in tempo and style. There's something for everyone here.Oh and the album cover? He used ms paint on his laptop. One thing I've noticed about hip hop in the Pac NW? The organ samples! Gotta love it.within a symphony of chaos, orchestrated by human nature.its no wonder the music faded.and thus, we construct a groove toconduct a movement and make adjustmentstowards improvement, with sucha purpose of pressurethis lord's profession is about progressionand that's no question, stay tuned...
