I was pretty excited to get a hold of this album after I had heard their single, “Carousel.” Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the complete package.
While there certainly are some decent songs here and there, particularly those that remind of Mew, I probably wouldn’t encourage you to go out and spend money on this album.
Indeed, I’d have to say that if you don’t know Carpark North or Mew, you’d be better off starting out with their albums. To be fair, though, it isn’t a complete dud — particularly if you’ve already outplayed the aforementioned (superior) bands.
In the end, this album has some good tracks, some interesting approaches, and may be worth at least two or three listens–if only for the new material.
