Pharoahe Monch

Rapid Eye Movement (Ft. Black Thought)

Sounds like: The Roots, Mos Def, Exile
It's not 1999, but Pharoahe Monch is sure spitting like it. In anticipation of his upcoming album P.T.S.D., Pharoahe has liberated a blistering cut called "Rapid Eye Movement" featuring an assist from Lyricist Lounge All-Star Black Thought, of the Roots crew.  Pharoahe's fourth solo LP will examine mental health both literally and as a metaphor for modern music. Never one to lack concepts or ideas, Pharoahe consistently finds ways to sound as fresh and exciting as he did two decades ago.  REM sleep is when dreams happen, and the track "Rapid Eye Movement" shows us what that process could look like when the subjects are two top tier MCs. From Pharaohe growing five times his size and using Ma$e to clobber non-believers to Black Thought holding your spouse for ransom, these are some gnarly dream sequences.
