We’ve seen Pollyn on here before, with the first leak for their upcoming album Living In Patterns. Now they have dropped a very interesting b-side in anticipation of the same project. Collaborating with MCs is something Pollyn has some experience with, previously working with Freddie Gibbs and Guilty Simpson, but for “Cold Sweat,” Pollyn reached out to New York-throwback wonderkid Roc Marciano.
The result is a pleasant surprise. In theory it might seem awkward to unite an MC from Long Island who permeates Sour Diesel, Polo rugby’s and project housing with every rhyme and a young up-and-coming electro group from Los Angeles. But in practice, it’s great. Pollyn supplies a frigid, sinister beat that Roc attacks with an inspired, bouncy flow. Genevieve, the voice of Pollyn, compliments the mood with a smoky chorus.
