St. Lucia is an island in the Caribbean. This is the first thing you’ll find when you Google it, which happens to be a perfect prequel to discovering the music and artist St. Lucia.
South-African born (but Brooklyn-based), one can only assume St. Lucia borrowed his name from, well, St. Lucia. On the island of St. Lucia (that actual island, not the artist), the music borrows elements of Africa — rhythmically speaking. So it’s no coincidence “We Got It Wrong”, rhythmically, borrows elements from St. Lucia!
I know, this is all getting very confusing, but shut off your mind and just listen. It’s like dancing under an open sky with the hope of beautifully bluer tomorrows. Maybe it was New York that encouraged the synth-wave producer to sonically paint these bright landscapes — it’s like light-therapy for the ears.
Thus, if you find yourself somewhere cold and grey like New York, or say… oh.. DETROIT, you’ll need a little sunshine in your life. So, close your eyes, turn on this track, and find your rising sun in the horizon.”We Got It Wrong” is entirely, right on.
