Why do we like this?

When Maryland rapper Ace Cosgrove sent me a private link to his ambitious new record Baby Need Food, I was immediately drawn to "Black/Flawless," a track anchored by the heady, jazzy spirits of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly.

Baby Need Food is an important benchmark for Ace, whose flow and lyrical content continue to seek higher ground. The record's also a great introduction to New York producer Robbie Anthem, the man behind every thoughtful beat on the nine-track release.
