Living in South Africa right now is great for two reasons: 1) it's summer; 2) there's a lot of fresh, up-and-coming music.
This weekend I have the opportunity to attend Up The Creek, a South African festival near Cape Town. Their tag line? "Think of it as Woodstock. Just wetter."
What's cool about this festival is that it takes place on a river. So, throughout the course of the day you have ample opportunity to get drunk on floaties, all while being serenaded.
The lineup is awesome, and I'm pretty sure I'll walk away having discovered a few new awesome bands. On top of that, I get to enjoy a number of recent favorites: Al Bairre, Beatenberg, Shortstraw, The Plastics and Jeremy Loops.
Basically, this is going to be awesome.
