Why do we like this?

When Justin Vernon covers a song, the Interwebs blow up a little. Sometimes it's justified, sometimes it's sorta meh, but you listen anyway and appreciate the rawness of Justin Vernon's voice. That's sort of the case here.

Justin & co. stopped by the Australian radio station Triple J and, as Stereogum puts it, he "did one of the things that Justin Vernon loves to do: He threw a little love to a relatively unknown indie singer-songwriter."

"Coming Down" comes from Anaïs Mitchell's new album Young Man In America. Justin Vernon is a wonderfully talented musician, but to be honest, I prefer her original version.
