Why do we like this?

Sydney legend Dappled Cities has been one of my all-time favorites for some time now, with each album inching them deeper into Hugh's Hall of Fame. As with any long-standing outfit, side projects are bound to follow. Tim Derricourt's Swimwear launched a couple of years back, and operating under And*, the band's other lead singer, Dave Rennickm has now joined him. His debut single "U Know Me" was just released.

Dappled Cities has always been a master of writing a damn good pop song, so it's no surprise that Rennick's work is excellent. Taking a more retro approach, he's paired upbeat synths and guitar riffs with a throbbing bassline, while his vocals remain typically powerful. Add in an unbelievable Moog solo (performed by the sophisticated lover himself, Donny Benet), and you've got an inevitable hit on your hands.

"U Know Me" is the first of five (digital) single releases, leading into an album scheduled for release mid-next year.
