I've always been a big fan of UK indie rapper Ash Shakur. He possesses an effortless flow and easily manages to slide between musical genres, often creating personal and infectious songs you'll have on repeat.
While I'm a little late posting his latest due to the fact it was meant to be a Halloween themed release, it's still well worth your time.
"Horror Flick" is an ode to watching scary flicks with your partner and pretending not to be worried, even though deep down you're shitting yourself. Shakur's unorthodox flow dances over Tony Mitchell's infectious electronic beat, with the illustrator and artist having this to say about the tune:
The record is full of fantasy, lust and danger. It was really fun to create this - the concept was created after a conversation with my girlfriend about horror movies - she was like ‘no Ash, there’s no way I’m watching this’! I feel as guys when we watch horrors it’s just to front. The truth is we’re scared too! So to my fellas, next time you take your lady to watch a horror flick it’s cool to be a little shook up too.
Be sure to check out more of Shakur's work here.
