Why do we like this?

New York-based electro duo ASTR released their debut EP early last year, Varsity, and it stuck in my mind all year as one of the better EPs of 2014.

I've been a fan of ASTR's long before their EP officially dropped. I've also had the good fortune to see ASTR do their thing live a couple of times at various venues around New York City. They are happily one of my favorite NYC-based acts due to the high energy and intensity of their live shows.

Since their EP debut last year, ASTR have busied themselves with a handful of remix releases, including one for Charli XCX . They're back today with original work in the form of "Activate Me." Mixed by Dark Child, this has everything you'd expect from ASTR -- high in energy, strong vocals, and bass that really hits.

Here's hoping this is the beginning of more solid work to come from ASTR in 2015!
