Why do we like this?

These days it feels like there are more and more female vocalists out there vying over the same territory / genre space. The result is a lot of a"meh" music that I end up turning my nose up to; it's hard to find variety when everyone's doing much the same.

The good news is that 18-year-old Aurora has managed to break the mold (at least for my ears). Her sound still falls in the dark pop / folk realm, but there's an undeniable originality to it that ultimately convinced me it was worth sharing.

The young Norwegian artist's debut EP will be released soon and can be pre-ordered here.
