London-based Barry Can’t Swim is releasing a well-timed EP next month. On July 7th, to be precise. Mark it on your calendar because it seems like it will be a good one for the summer. It’ll be called Amor Fati and it has two singles out,"Lone Raver," which is a delicious house track, and this incredible ode to disco and summer vibes. It bears the awesome name of "Jazz Club After Hours."
It begins with a mood setting sax, keys and snare, some chatter in the background that give it some texture and it transports you to another place, another decade, you can feel the heat of the room, smell the cigarette smoke in the air, taste the cool drink that isn’t really in your hand.
The strings take a lead on this song and accompany you, at the center of it for the most part, fading to the back to allow for other instruments to play too, like the wind like instrument that dances for a couple of seconds at the first minute mark, or the joyful organ that grooves for a while right after that.
This is a tune that projects a movie in your head, and makes you move. That’s pretty cool.
Have fun and take care!
