Beatenberg

Beatenberg pays their generational dues to the phenom of Johnny Clegg, and not only do they respect him, but they create a new generational version of "Scatterlings."  Beatenberg was the last band I thought of when Virgin Music announced their Johnny Clegg cover album, and yet here I am in awe of what I am hearing - a soft, warm, and beautifully reimagined version of "Scatterlings." It is pure Beatenberg, but it's also phenomenally Johnny Clegg. In the zeitgeist of South African culture, Johnny Clegg built a magnificent canvas of sounds, and Beatenberg has respectfully added their own paint to its material.  "Scatterlings" is a beautiful reminder and an awesome reimagining.
