Why do we like this?
Booka Shade is a German house duo hailing from the travel hub of Frankfurt. The partnership is made of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, and extrodinary does not even begin to cover their productions. Starting off in 2004, Booka Shade has released a number of mind-blowing tracks over the years.
"Regenerate" is one of my favorite songs by the duo fantastique, dating back to their 2010 album More! on their label, Get Physical Music. The beginning is slow, with honking samples and a righteously erie vocal train floating throughout the production. Perfectly designing each beat and drop with gilded sophistication, the song builds layer after layer until just before minute four, when the real fun starts. A staccato, cascading melody pummels through the airwaves, just about the right time to sink into the inner framework of this German house experience.
Every time I listen to this track, I think to myself, "Fuck. This is just GOOD." Although it's not especially new, it's something everyone should have up their sleeve. Also of note are their faaaaantastic live sets, so if you have the chance be sure to check them out.
