Why do we like this?

I saw Braids perform at a small BC music festival (Ponderosa!) last summer, and was pretty floored by their performance.

Lyrically sophisticated melodies and intricate, focused beats laid the groundwork for a sound that seemed more mature than the fare coming from more popular female-driven groups.

This track, the second single from their upcoming LP Deep in the Iris, shows off a little more melodic flair than we're used to from the band, without sacrificing the layered, sophisticated production we've come to expect.

Let yourself get away by an outro, which is reminiscent of Son Lux and My Brightest Diamond. It reminds us that Braids is never content with the typical.
