Cat Power Cherokee (Nicolas Jaar Remix)

It's been a while since we've featured any singles off Cat Power's upcoming album Sun. In fact, "Cherokee" was the most-recent example. So, I suppose this remix is a gentle reminder that we're still waiting for Sun to drop (end of August, folks!).

Switching gears, it's fairly non-contentious to assert that Nicolas Jaar has made a name for himself as one of the premiere minimal electronic producers out there. And so, there were relatively few surprises when I first gave this a listen.

That said, it's rare to hear a Jaar track that includes vocals, particularly as powerful as Chan Marshall's. Fortunately, even with the catchy percussion of the original, these two go together like peanut butter and jelly.
