Why do we like this?
Yes, that is former teen-pop star Celeste Cruz (of Daphne and Celeste) in bed with our favorite broken heart champion Kent Odessa. Now, how exactly Odessa made that happen, I'm not exactly sure. Regardless, their teaming up has led to a brand new track, and it does NOT involve calling anybody ugly.
The song is called "Just a Phase" and it's a dancey pop number featuring Cruz and Odessa throwing blows at each other about the end of a relationship. The drama plays out over 80s-flavored shimmering synths and a beat that just won't quit. It makes you want to dance, despite the protagonist of the song's predicament. I suppose dancing just might be the perfect cure for a break-up, at least for poor Kent Odessa.
As for Celeste Cruz, I'm not sure if this is the beginning of a full-on return to music, but it's definitely a great first step. And if this isn't enough to fill the Daphne and Celeste-size hole in your heart, you can catch Cruz in a past episode of 30 Rock circa 2009.
