Just a few days ago, we featured Domenique Dumont's "Comme Ça" on the Parisian label Antinote, comparing it to D.K.'s "Marimba Theme" in its excellent use of melody. Although there was a YouTube link included, the record is worthy of an article in its own right.
D.K. himself also hails from Paris, but takes his influences from labels like Future Times and Mood Hut, with their heavily boogie-based form of house music. "Marimba Theme" is case in point, with the track driven by a lazy, groovy bassline in addition to the marimba mentioned in the title.
