Why do we like this?

Many of us with our ears to the underground have no doubt been made aware of the humor and genius of Denmark Vessey. Cult Classic was one of the best albums of 2013 for rap heads. 

More than just gritty and witty raps lie inside this diminutive and baby-faced spitter. In the ninth installment of House Shoes' The Gift series, Denmark gives us 14 instrumental bangers that run the gamut from prog-rock flips, straight-up boom-bap head nodders, and even something fans of a certain hybrid rapper from Detroit might recognize. 

One of my faves is undoubtedly "Pump Yo' Brakes," in part because he gets the late great Patrice O'Neal to share some words of wisdom on the intro.
