While visiting South Florida, I had the pleasure of catching Nashville, Tennessee’s Elliot Root warm up the stage for Hozier.
The five-piece alternative soul group has released three EPs. The most recent, Thoughts From Yesterday, went live just a few days ago. Their easy sound fits nicely in playlists padded with William Fitzsimmons, Bon Iver, and Guster.
I first listened to Elliot Root’s own cramped version of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert. Stacked on top of each other in a too-small area, I was smitten by their single “Chemical Sweat.” Even without the visuals, you are certain to be intrigued.
It's worth noting that their sound also translated live beautifully. If you see them headed toward your hometown, grab a date and a beer. It’ll be a good night.
