Why do we like this?

About a year ago I picked up on a song by DANSU called "State of Mind." Turns out my blog post coverage is fresh enough in my browser's cache to auto-complete the song title of this one.

The similarity stops there, though, as EMERGER's take on the same title is completely unlike the former.

EMERGER are from South Africa, which gets them an instant leg-up in our book (given that ~half of us Indie Shuffle writers are based in Cape Town). Like many of the acts releasing music this year, "State Of Mind" was written under lockdown conditions -- an event that seems to have provided boundless inspiration for new music.

You'll find "State of Mind" on the duo's upcoming sophomore album. There's also a cool YouTube video (below).
