Being a die-hard Drake fan, I believe I could probably name all the tracks sampled in his last three projects. Okay, maybe not ALL of them, but definitely the ones that are vital to the sound.
That's the main reason Gabriel Clarke's "Can't You Tell" resonates with me so strongly. For her to take one of my personal favorite lines sampled in If You're Reading This It's Too Late and give it such an incredible twist is just mind-blowing. I'm specifically talking about Ginuwine's "So Anxious" and its chorus that repeats on the low throughout Drake's hit "Legend."
Putting that whole sampling thing aside, Gabriel sounds like a modern mix of Erykah Badu and Jorja Smith, with a little pinch of Rihanna to top it all off. It's super refreshing to hear something so effortless. Oh, and it's definitely your new babymaking soundtrack.
