After reviewing their debut single "Evangelists," I've been a bit ambivalent toward Sydney band Gang of Youths. Until now. Having risen to prominence on the back of a number of well-received singles and a powerful live show, they're now readying themselves for the release of their debut album.
With The Postions due out on April 17, today we have a special treat for you in the form of a B-side track, "Still Unbeaten Life," which will be available as part of the deluxe album package.
At eight minutes long, it's a stirring, smoldering track that builds steadily throughout, climaxing in an emotionally charged finish. It's the sort of song that highlights the band's most favorable characters -- strong songwriting, dynamic vocals, and epic soundscapes -- all of which will no doubt see Gang of Youths move from strength to strength over the coming months.
