Why do we like this?

So, write this down. Girl Friend is one of the better young pop acts around right now. Also, I think I have a crush on their lead singer, Amory.

Amory has all the key pop star ingredients -- tall and dark haired, young and handsome, talented and edgy. He's described as "hopelessly hedonistic" and saddled with angst about love and life that he channels via his persona, lyrics, and live act. It's the stuff all good male pop stars are made of.

This latest single from Girl Friend has the deliciously sinister title of "Poison." In it, Amory sings..

"I want you to poison me.
Please don't say no."

Not sure I can say no to Amory.

I have been following Girl Friend over the last few months in the lead up to their EP release earlier this year. This four-piece out of Manchester have been spreading their wings this summer with live shows and by playing support on tour with The Kooks.
