The original version of “GLY” by Catching Flies is downtempo, slightly glitchy, electronica goodness. It’s a groovy, synth-y, soft house track that’ll have you tapping your feet in no time flat. It’s a fun little track as it is, but Hot Chip’s remix breathes a more sophisticated, percussion-driven soul into the original that I didn’t quite know it was lacking until I heard this.
The track itself is quite repetitive, but therein lies its appeal. It’s a track for dancing to when the clubs open again, and we can all jive and be merry. Until that time, it’s a track for grooving to around your lounge in your pyjamas and slippers, glass of wine in hand.
It’s an understated, no-frills, straight-up easy jam. Turn up the volume and grab your best dancing-slippers. Move the furniture if you must. Get into it. You won’t regret it.
