Intertwining their upbeat, Cali vibe with more blatant electronic music influences than past efforts, Golden Coast manages to reach a new high with "Comeback Kid."
Not quite tropical house or nu disco, the indie alt-pop darlings Golden Coast find a comfortable balance of pop, electronica, and rock in "Comeback Kid" which shows maturity and honed individuality. It retains the smoothness of past releases, but injects a level of savvy that bears remarkable resemblance to peers such as Autograf and, to a certain extent, The Chainsmokers.
Golden Coast fires on all cylinders with this outing hitting all the quotients they need for a fire release: the nudisco loving hipsters; the basic girls who use the puppy Snapchat filter; and even the seasoned pros who just want to hear a solid pop tune. Ironic to call the song "Comeback Kid" seeing as Golden Coast seems here to stay without a need for a comeback in the foreseeable future.
