Hala Making Me Nervous

Isn’t it cute when boys admit they are nervous around you? Especially when they think you can’t tell they have butterflies, because boys… we can always tell.

That’s what this humble track made me think about. The tune comes from 22-year-old, Ian Ruhala, who goes by Hala when he’s sharing his music. He has a slightly high-pitched voice with a tenor range, which you can pick up on whenever he graciously slides up on the notes.

Some of the instrumentals have a classical and cinematic feel, which contrasts with the other bedroom pop elements. It’s honestly remarkable, especially when you consider he’s making music out of an attic in Michigan instead of inside a concert hall or prominent studio.
