A graduate from the Berklee College of Music, multi-instrumentalist and producer Keith Kenniff is a busy man. While regularly self-releasing music under various monikers including Goldmund, Mint Julep and Meadows, and also composing several soundtracks -- most famously for Facebook's 'A Look Back' feature -- it's his ambient Helios project that has garnered the most attention.
New track "Unity" holds onto the essence of what has made Helios great with its ethereal and soothing quality. However, it does away with the soft and clean guitar and subtle electronics characteristic of much of Helios' work, instead providing a gentle wash to slowly immerse yourself in. It's almost hymnal as a lush organ effect builds a steady chord progression, decaying at the pace of a Galapagos tortoise as lilting effects and inflections ghost through the haze.
Sounds to get completely lost in, new music from Helios is always welcome in the hubbub of the day and "Unity" is certainly no different. Beautiful.
