There's a wonderful, sweet dichotomy lurking inside "Lifeline," a fresh tune from Holy Golden, AKA Leslie Schott and Andrew Valenti. On the one hand, it's got that wide-eyed dream-pop undercurrent...but laced with the passion of teenagers jamming out in their parents' garage. It's like if The Cranberries channeled Dolly Parton to produce a Sleater-Kinney deep cut.
There's a reservoir of potential here; "Lifeline" practically feels like a promise of what's to come, an update of that classic, unpolished indie sound.
Their EP, The Licking River, is out now. Take a gander, and book 'em whenever you can.
